“I have always been interested in human physiology, and I enjoyed science classes more than other subjects in high school and college. But it was an emergency appendectomy that sparked my interest in medicine. Later, during my residency in internal medicine, cancer care piqued my interest. People are often surprised and overwhelmed to find they have cancer, which only increases their already-significant need for excellent medical care and compassionate support. As someone who wants to help others, I decided to specialize in cancer care.

“Now, having been in practice for more than 10 years, my interest in helping these people is even greater. While treating cancer is complicated and challenging, it pales in comparison to the challenge faced by our patients themselves. Every day, I am privileged to see people choose to fight rather than give up. Cancer patients find enormous strength and courage — strength and courage they never knew they had. Giving these people and their loved ones respect, compassion, emotional support, and excellent care is as satisfying as it is well-deserved.”
